🌟 Tanya Je… Ep 1 — Why We Call Ourselves “Noodle Shack”

A little story behind our name, our journey, and the funny moments along the way.

If you’ve been following Noodle Shack for a while (or even makan with us once), chances are you’ve wondered:

Cute dumpling with a cap holds a tissue, smiling on an orange background. Speech bubble says, "Hey Nat! I Got A Question le..."
Ah Mian Zai : Saya Mau Tanya!

“Eh… why you all call yourselves Noodle Shack ah?”

It’s actually one of the most common questions customers ask us — in-store, on social media, and sometimes even via delivery notes.

So today, as part of our new series “Tanya je… V try jawap ha…”, we’re finally answering it properly.

🏡 The Name “Noodle Shack”: Small, Cozy, Down-to-Earth — Just Like Our Beginning

When we first started Noodle Shack in year 2009, we were literally a tiny shop.

A humble space, just enough to fit a few tables, a small kitchen, and a whole lot of dreams.

We wanted a name that felt like home.

Not fancy, not atas, not pretentious.

Just something simple… warm… and true to our roots.

That’s how “Noodle Shack” came to us.

A shack means a small, modest, comfortable place — the sort of spot where you don’t have to dress up, don’t have to feel shy, and can just enjoy a bowl of hearty, handmade noodles that taste like comfort.

And that is exactly what we’ve always wanted Noodle Shack to be.💕

🍜 A Home for Handmade Noodles

From day one, everything revolved around one thing:

our love for handmade noodles — especially Pan Mee and Mian Fen Kuih.

We make them fresh, we "massage" them with care, and we serve them the way our families taught us. To us, a bowl of noodles is more than just food; it’s tradition, connection, and culture.

So choosing a name like Noodle Shack just felt right.

A small place with big heart.

Simple name, honest food.

Woman in a yellow shirt holds a small object, looking excited. Cartoon shark labeled "Noodle SHARK!" and worried dumpling overlay. Bustling eatery.
Noodle Shack VS Noodle Shark??

😂 But Here’s the Funny Part… “Noodle Shark”!

Now… if you’re one of those who once misread our name, don’t worry — you’re definitely not alone!

Over the years, we’ve heard:

  • Noodle Shark 🦈

  • Noodle Shock ⚡

  • Noodle Snack 🍘

Even Noodle Check ✔️

Every time we see it on Grab/Foodpanda orders, we laugh until pengsan a bit.

But honestly?

We’re happy you remember us — even if as a shark. 🦈💛

So just to clarify once and for all ah…

🗣️ It’s “Noodle SHACK”, not “Shark”!

(Unless we one day decide to sell shark fin Pan Mee… which we won’t la. HAHA.)

✨ Tanya je… V Try Jawap Ha — A New Chapter for Noodle Shack

After being quiet on social media for a while, we wanted to reconnect with all of you in a more personal, down-to-earth way.

So we’re launching this new series where:

You ask. We answer.

“Manglish style, Malaysian heart.”

From:

✔️ “Why call yourselves Noodle Shack?”

✔️ “Why your noodles got holes one?”

✔️ “What’s the difference between Pan Mee and Mian Fen Kuih?”

✔️ “Why your sambal so power?”

✔️ “Is your team real or AI generated?” (Yes… people asked this. 😂)

We’ll be answering your burning questions one by one — short videos, fun facts, behind-the-scenes stories, and maybe even some confession moments.

❤️ Your Curiosity Keeps Us Going

Whether you’ve been with us since the first outlet, or you just discovered us yesterday…

Thank you for makan with us, supporting us, laughing with us, and sometimes even mispronouncing our name.

All of it makes our journey meaningful.

Got a question you always wanted to ask?

Drop it anytime. Tanya je…

We’ll try our best to jawap ha. 😄
